In simple terms, the “bid” is the price which you sell the base currency and the “ask” is the price which you buy the base currency. The difference between the two is known as the spread. This is commonly referred to as the “bid/ask spread“.

The spread is measured in pips. For the majority of currency pairs, one pip is equal to 0.0001. An example of a 0.1 pips spread for AUDUSD would be 0.71184/0.71185.
